Our swim lessons are designed to introduce all ages to swimming in a fun and safe environment. Each level is catered to one’s swimming ability and will teach new techniques to help your child become comfortable in the water.
Ages 1 - 3
Our Parent-Toddler Class is for new swimmers ages 6 months to 3 years old. This class is designed to be an organized playgroup for infants and toddlers, accompanied by their parents or caregivers, and focuses on water comfortability. Introduce your child to swimming and games that focus on water comfort and basic skills such as water entry, bubble blowing, floating and underwater exploration.
Ages 3 - 5
This introductory class for ages 3–5 can help participants become more comfortable in the water and gain confidence through basic skills include entering and exiting the water, breath control, floating with assistance, arm and leg actions, and water safety. This course is suited for those who can swim with assistance, float with assistance, listen and follow directions, and attend class independent of a parent or guardian
Ages 5 - 12
Level 1 classes are designed for new swimmers aged 5–12. Participants will gain confidence through learning how to enter and exit the water,, breath control, floating with assistance, arm and leg actions, and water safety. This course is suited for those who can swim with assistance, float with assistance, listen and follow directions, and be in a class setting independent of a parent or guardian.
Ages 5 - 12
In Level 2, children begin learning coordinated and forward movement in the water. This class integrates arm and leg action, front, back and side glides, and submerged object retrieval. This course is suited for those who can be comfortable in the water and who are able to float on front and back unassisted.
Ages 5 - 12
In Level 3, swimmers work on freestyle and backstroke. Side breathing and stroke technique is refined, while building endurance with the end goal of swimming 25 yards of freestyle unassisted. This course is suited for those who can jump in and fully submerge, recover to their back and float for 30 seconds, and swim 15 yards unassisted.
Ages 5 - 12
In Level 4, swimmers work on proficiency in freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke, and introduce butterfly. Level 4 focuses on building endurance and speed with the goal of swimming 50 yards of freestyle unassisted. This course is suited for those who can swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke, and can tread water for 30 seconds.
Ages 5 - 12
In level 5, swimmers work on endurance, while refining competitive strokes and developing an understanding of basic swim training principles, including drills, using a pace clock, starts, turns, and racing. This program is a great introduction to competitive swimming in a low-key environment, all while encouraging a love of swimming. Level 5 requires swimmers to be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle, 25 yards of backstroke, and 25 yards of breaststroke. It is strongly encouraged to pass Level 4 before enrolling in Level 5.
Ages 5 - 12
RJ’s Pre-Competition Swim League is designed for young swimmers who have already mastered the fundamentals of swimming and are eager to prepare for competitive swimming. This program focuses on refining techniques and building endurance in a supportive and fun environment. It is strongly encouraged to pass Level 5 before enrolling in RJ’s Pre-Competition Swim League.
Ages 13 - 99
Teen to Adult Swim lessons are a fun, low pressure group class intended to familiarize new swimmers with best practices in the water. Frequently taught skills include freestyle, side breathing, treading water, and building water competence. Lessons can be tailored to fit individual group needs.
Ages 3 - 99
Private lessons are a one-on-one time to enhance students’ overall skills and comfort in the water. Instructors provide a fun, low pressure setting where students can have their learning needs met. Frequently taught skills include water comfortability, treading water, freestyle, and advanced skills. Lessons are often tailored to the very beginner who needs additional assistance or the advanced swimmer who needs one-on-one coaching and pacing.

My name is Nick Wullenweber, and I am the Aquatics Manager here at The Kroc. Welcome to the pool! I'm a Fairfield/Suisun City native, and through water polo and competitive swimming in my childhood, I developed my passion for aquatics. With over 12 years of experience as an aquatics professional, I have dedicated myself to building a space for people to enjoy the water, whether that's taking your first swim lesson, enjoying the friendships in a group class, training for competitions, or swimming laps as part of your fitness routine. My mission is to create a safe and positive experience for you every time you visit.
